Ayana Liburd is New BVIHSA Boss

Ayana Liburd is the new Chairperson of the BVI Health services Authority (BVIHSA). She was officially appointed to the post following a motion moved in the House of Assembly on April 20, by Minister of Health Ronnie Skelton. Her appointment was effective as of March 15, 2017. She has been a member of the BVIHSA board since 2012 and became Deputy Chair in 2013.

In listing Mrs Liburd’s background Minister Skelton said she is aware of the work that lies ahead.

The Health Minister thanked former Chairman Bishiop John Cline for what he described as his ‘sterling service.

The former BVIHSA Chairman was forced to resign at the request of Premier and Finance Minister Dr. D. Orlando Smith after commenting publicly on the airport expansion proposal and a recommendation by ardent supporter of the ruling NDP Mrs Eileen Parsons that the Premier give up the finance portfolio to Minister Skelton who previously served in that capacity.
