3rd District Seeks to Boost Employment Opportunities [VIDEO]

The Third District Committee, Chaired by Raja Smith, hosted a Career and Job Fair, on Thursday, January 31 (2013) at the Valerie O. Thomas Community Centre in Sea Cow’s Bay, designed to give unemployed people in that area opportunities to interact with employment agencies and businesses. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Third District Representative, Julian Fraser said employment empowers. Fraser commended Deputy Premier and Minister for Labour, Dr. Kederick Pickering, who declared the event official open, for his support toward the initiative.

The Third District representative welcomed the private and public sector partnership in making the event a success. He further alluded to the long term benefits of the job fair while highlighting the changing demographics among the unemployed in the Territory.

Third District Committee Chairman, Raja Smith, who also owns No Limit Business Services, told JTV News that he is satisfied with the response from the young people in the area to the career and job fair.

When asked whether he thinks some of the participants will find employment during the job fair, Smith was optimistic noting that his company is also scouting for new employees to work in the heavy equipment field.
